Celebrating Accomplishments

As I write this article, The Church Has Left The Building projects are well underway. Hammers are flying, soccer balls are being kicked, groceries are being delivered, prayers are being offered, and ultimately ministry is being accomplished. I have been amazed to see our people coming together in such a powerful manner to touch the lives of the Zachary community. Just yesterday, teams of volunteers worked through the incredible heat to repair homes so that people could live with basic services. These amenities are a far cry from the comfortable surroundings to which we have become accustomed, but they are so appreciated by the residents. In addition, volunteers conducted a children's soccer clinic at the BREC Rollins Rd. Park and shared the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman (John 4) with the attentive participants. Everything was great after we clarified that we were talking about the woman at the "well," not the woman at the "whale". (I think the child was trying to "go Jonah" on us.) People also started delivering groceries to needy families throughout the area, snacks were taken to the Lane ER personnel, and toiletries were gathered for Revelation House (a refuge for women located here in Zachary). And all of these efforts have been under girded with prayer as individuals have lifted up the ministry to the Lord. No doubt, the rest of the week will bring about many other ministry opportunities, and we look forward to meeting them head on. Join us this Sunday as we celebrate all that He has accomplished in our community!

July 4
On Sunday, July 4, 2010, we will have Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and one worship service at 11:00 a.m. After that time of worship, we will gather in the Family Life Center for fellowship and food (hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.). Make a point to be there with your family!

July 11
Don't forget that Dr. B. H. Brantly will be honored at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010, for his faithful ministry here at First Baptist Church, Zachary. I'll have more to say about this celebration in the next Messenger, but I want you to make sure you have the date marked on your calendar.
