Can you believe that one-fourth of 2010 is almost over? Winter is virtually behind us, and spring cometh! Now is the time for a progress report of where we are - a sort of passion checkup. Remember at the end of 2009, I challenged us to embrace a greater passion for God, His Word, His mission, and His family. How have we followed up with that passion?
A Passion for God
Are we hungering for God more now than we were three months ago? Are we enjoying Him? Are we savoring His taste? Do we find ourselves absolutely satisfied with Him? These are questions that you might use to evaluate your passion for God Himself. He must be preeminent in your faith, family, and work.
A Passion for God’s Word
Are you still reading through the Bible? Don’t give up. You’ve made it through Leviticus and Numbers! Keep going. The more you read, the more blessing and contentment you find.
A Passion for God’s Mission
Have you participated in a week of missions outside of Zachary, or do you have it planned? I’ll be leaving in a couple of weeks on a medical mission trip to Nicaragua. Betty Thomas and Mary Stagg will be traveling with me to gather information about our own church trip October 23-29 (An informational meeting will be soon!). Also, we are making preparation for our Books on the Border trip, The Church Has Left the Building outreach, etc.
A Passion for God’s Family
Have you committed yourself to the fellowship of believers? Specifically, have you seriously participated in a Sunday School class? God wants you to connect with other believers, and the small group environment is one of the best settings to accomplish this.
