Marveling at Christ's moving through us...
How blessed we are to belong to a church where God continues to move! Over the last few weeks, we have seen Him work in so many different ways to bring people to Himself. Since January alone, we have baptized twenty-one individuals from across the generational spectrum, and six more are already scheduled for the next few Sundays. How awesome!
In addition, the Lord is working within the lives of believers by calling them to missions. As Ron Rogers writes, “God’s work around the globe is done by flesh-and-blood bodies of Christ committed to God’s plan to make His name known to every people on earth before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Every day, it seems that the Lord raises up “flesh and blood bodies” committed to taking the message of Christ to the nations. Over the next two months, our church members will touch several different areas: Nicaragua, Guatemala, Amite (LA), Waveland (MS), Honduras, Haiti, and Hungary. Pray for these efforts and consider how you might be used to make a difference in the nations.
Finally, there is a growing sense of compassion within our church body. Just recently, several men committed themselves to The Carpenter’s Way Ministry in an effort to take better care of our widows. Also, we are hosting a Safe Families informational meeting on May 20, 2013, at 7:00 pm to see how some our church members may help care for children during transitional stages of their lives.
There are so many great things happening within our spiritual family right now for which we should be grateful. After all, we should remember that discipleship is not simply produced by our human genius; rather, it is the Spirit’s work of transformation. He is working—even if it is in spite of us! And for that, I praise His name!
