Coming face-to-face with the reality of how he truly conducts himself, Jay Austin begins the ride of his life as he commits to honoring God with his business, his relationships, and his life.
Dear Parents and Students,
Throughout my years as a student minister, I have heard students say they wish they had a better relationship with their parents. Likewise, I have had many parents say they wish they had a better relationship with their teenager. I'm sure you, like everyone else, fall into this category. As a student minister, I have made strengthening family relationships a major emphasis in my ministry. Out of this commitment has emerged Rekindling the Family weekend.
This year's Rekindling the Family is "A Night at the Movies." On Saturday, November 15, I am inviting you parents to get a babysitter for the other siblings, take your teen out for dinner, and come to the church to watch a good movie together. The movie is "Flywheel" and is produced by the makers of Facing the Giants and Fireproof. Flywheel is sure to inspire your family.
"A night at the Movies" is a great opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with your teenager. When was the last time you did something with just your teen? For some, this could be just what is needed to reconnect with your student. Certainly, this is a great way to say "I love you and I want to spend time with you."
Brother Shad Kennedy
Beginning Wednesday, November 5, we will start back with Overtime. Overtime is a time for students to hang out in the FLC (gym) following The Gathering. They can play volleyball, basketball, racquetball, ping pong, shoot pool, etc. It will end at 8:00 p.m.
The Gathering will not meet on Wednesday, November 26.
Come join us on Sunday, November 30, for our youth-led service. Our praise band and T.H.P. (The Holy People), our student choir, will lead in worship before our pastor preaches the Word.
Our students will be going on a mission trip to Cleveland, TN, June 7-13. The cost is $300 per student. This includes travel, hotel, meals, a MercyMe concert, and whitewater rafting. If you are going, you must sign-up and pay a $50 non-refundable deposit by Sunday, December 31. If you would like to sponsor a student, please Bro. Shad.
