1st Grade Classes meet in the Children's Center
April 2010 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
Spring is a great time of year. Everywhere you look there is rebirth and new growth. Speaking of growth, it has been fun to see how much the children have grown physically and learned spiritually this year.
Our mission emphasis at this time is the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. Thus far, our first-graders have contributed $15.47 toward this offering. With $33.19 contributed in March, our first-graders have contributed a total of $75.75 for the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the Caring to Love Crisis Pregnancy Center. Wow!
We have two people who will celebrate birthdays in April. They are Allison Fowler and Landon Kennedy. Congratulations!
Five first-graders attended Sunday School the first three Sundays in March. They are Hunter Harrell, Eden Robinson, Chloe Russell, Presleigh Stagg, and Ian Venable.
Bible verse memorization continues to be most important in our Sunday School agenda. Abigail Bridges, Natalie Creel, Eden Robinson, Chloe Russell, Presleigh Stagg, and Ian Venable memorized the three verses for the first three Sundays in March. Thank you for your help and encouragement at home!
Beginning with the last Sunday of March and continuing throughout April, we will study the events leading up to, and following, the resurrection. The title of this study is "Jesus, the Savior," The study will begin with Palm Sunday when Jesus entered Jerusalem; will move to His death and resurrection; and will finish with three wonderful stories of Jesus' appearing to His followers. In addition, the children will be involved with a missions project throughout the month.
The week of March 28, the children will learn that Jesus rode on a donkey into the city of Jerusalem to the sound of praises from the people. The girls and boys will sing praises and will talk about the greatness of Jesus. The memory verse that week is Luke 9:38: "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord."
The week of April 4, the children will study the death and resurrection of Jesus and will thank Jesus for what He did. The memory verse for Easter is Matthew 28:6: "He has been resurrected, just as He said."
The week of April 11, the children will learn what happened when two disciples met Jesus on the road. The memory verse that week is Luke 24:34: "The Lord has certainly been raised."
The week of April 18, the children will learn of another appearance of Jesus - when Thomas refused to believe that Jesus appeared until he saw Him in person. Our memory verse will be John 3:16: "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life."
Finally, the week of April 25, the children will learn that Jesus appeared to the disciples by the seaside, served them breakfast, and taught about loving and serving people. The memory verse that week will be Galations 5:13: "Serve on another through love."
You can help your child learn and understand about God and Jesus. Talk about the Bible stories and Bible verses. Pray for the children and teachers as they study the stories of Jesus.
In His Name,
Mary & Phil Stagg
